As refashion handmade artist is quite rare in Penang, I suggested to perform the exhibition in another way. In the new plan, we will invite around 10 artists to come over our roadshow at the Occupy Beach Street.
On the spot, they will draw on the white t-shirt given by us and all of the drawings have to fit with our theme, 'fashion pollution'. Those artworks will be put into a A3 frame and present during our exhibition. In addition, we will sell them in a bidding way before our event ended. All the profits will go to Fashion Revolution Malaysia.
——Artists for Exhibition
Upon my team members' approval, I proceed to contact Mr. Lim Chun Woei, the Urban Creatures Creative Director through Facebook Messenger on 26/9 (Monday). He is a famous designer who is passionate in many art activities from Taiping, but currently based in Penang. Since he has a wide social interaction in the art field, I decided to arrange a meeting to invite him and also his friends to join us for the exhibition.
After a short description of our idea, he is seen like interested with our idea and willing to come out for a meeting. Our meeting is scheduled on 5/10 (Wednesday), 1.00pm at Han Chiang College, the working place of Mr. Lim.
——TLM Event
TLM Event is the company in charge of the Occupy Beach Street. Since we are planned to have a roadshow on 13/11 (Sunday) at Beach Street and also wish to borrow some event props from them, I dropped the founder of TLM Event, Mr. Wong Kee Sheng a letter with the letterhead designed by Jin Ling through e-mail on 26/9 (Monday). Now, I am looking forward for his reply.

——Sponsor for Silk-screen Printing
At the noon of Tuesday (27/9), Hui Ying, Jin Ling and me decided to pay a visit to Hong Leong Trading, the silkscreen printing equipment specialist in Penang after classes. This travel is aims to know the price for those materials and tools we needed to carry out our silk-screen printing workshop. It may help us to estimate our budget for the section. After inquiry, the prices are as below:
Stencil (A4) – RM 30.00
Paint (900g) – RM 9.50
Squeegee – RM 1.30/inch
Intend to lower down our budget, we tried our best to catch on every opportunity to ask for sponsorship. We required to meet the owner. Unfortunately, he was absent. Thus, we passed our sponsorship proposal to his staff and we will call back on coming Monday (3/10) to follow up his consideration.
After that, Jin Ling and me also assist Hui Ying when she decided to walk in few shops around to ask for sponsorship, such as The Black Kettle, The Mugshot Cafe, Wheeler's Coffee, Coffee on the Table and so on.
It was a sunburn day, wishes our dark skin tone will be rewarded! Stay turned for my next update.
