3 Research Portfolio: Recruitment Poster

Below are examples of recruitment poster that I have researched. My aim is to have a contrast yet simple poster to attract people attention toward our recruitment poster and easily adapt to the information.

1 | Cantonese Club CAA

It is the poster design for 2015 recruiting new members for Cantonese Club CAA designed by Zheng Cheng Rong from China.

The use of conversation boxes to portrayed the main theme of the club, language is well designed. In this poster, there is only 2 colors applied, which is black and white. Using such a stark dichotomy, this poster immediately establish a dynamic in the design that is impossible for the audience to ignore. Although the important information (venue, time and others) are highlight bold, they still unobvious at fist sight due to the same color scheme and font style.

2 | VisualCast Designology

It is a recruiting poster from VisualCast Designology based in Surabaya, Indonesia. This poster is posted on their Facebook Page on November, 2015.

The poster is in black and white background, but it stands out with its simplicity and contrast. On the middle, the words in white or green are in contrast with the dark color background; whereas the arrangement of the 'RECRUITING' will lead people pay attention to. At the same time, it may make some people confuse with. The use of color scheme and arrangement could draw our attention well.

Quality Statement

We will include the use of contrast in our design. The highlight of the words with a bright color on a grey background successfully grab the attention from audience but we may change the way we perform as we worry the arrangement may make people confuse with. We will also use a background include element that related to our theme.

3| THEi Music Society

A recruiting poster of THEi Music Society for Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong designed by Nicholas Ng at year 2013.

The whole poster adopts the simplicity and clear style, as seen on the illustration. As their society is related to music, they choose the guitar string as their design element to fit with their theme, especially on the Chinese character "招" (zhao) will lead audience get to know it is definitely related to music. The used of the hot pink color is to create the meaning of happiness and is sometimes seen as lighthearted. The only flawed on this design is the font style of the information is too slim and hard to be view on those hot pink rectangles.

Quality Statement

We will apply the simplicity in our design. However, we will avoid to use of the slim font style on a bright color background and the font for the creative font style of 'new committees recruitment' which may hard for audience to look at.
